GRA 2111c: VISUAL METHODS AND PROCESSES
This course is structured to explore the language and practice of graphic design at a rudimentary level. By the end of this course students should be able to use graphic design elements as effective visual communications tools. Students will learn basic design skills such as figure/ground, layout, composition and continuity and apply these strategies to design exercises. Students will also be required to research design concepts and ideas as well as materials and techniques leading to a more complete understanding of graphic design. By finding solutions to assigned design problems and participations in critiques, students will develop conceptual and practical design skills.

 

DIG 2930: WORKSHOP IN FUNDAMENTAL TECHNOLOGY
This course is designed as an introduction to the basic technologies of contemporary art and design. Course content consists of instruction into computer hardware topics such as drives, digital data/file formats, CODECs, storage, file management, system software, program applications, “freeware” and data input / output. This course also covers the basics of software such as Photoshop, Final Cut Pro/I-Movie, Illustrator, Flash and DreamWeaver.

 

GRA 3194: TECHNOLOGY AND PROCESS
In order to remain current in your professional design practice, it is imperative that you incorporate internet technologies such as web design and animation into your repertoire. This course will provide intruction in Macromedia’s DreamWeaver and Flash products, as you utilize them in your creative process. Hand-Coded css/xhtml and actionscript will be instructed and required of all students.

 

GRA 4923: MINT DESIGN STUDIO
MINT Studio places special emphasis on the discovery, definition, design, and production of projects in collaboration with peer design teams and selected client partners. Experience in teamwork and collaboration, the business aspects of design, design strategy, production, and client and business relations are all topics that are covered dur ing the course. Projects are diverse in concept, content, and media, and the scope ranges from local to international.
